Education In Emergencies

Education is a lifeline for children affected by conflict, displacement, and crises. Through our Education in Emergencies (EiE) program, FOMCAM is committed to ensuring that conflict-affected children in Cameroon’s North West Region can safely return to school and reclaim their right to learn. In contexts where prolonged violence and instability have disrupted education, our program prioritises not only access to schooling but also the continuity and quality of learning. We recognise that restoring education in emergencies is essential for rebuilding hope, resilience, and a sense of normalcy in the lives of children. Our approach goes beyond providing classroom access. We offer scholarships, educational materials, and learning kits to reduce barriers to education for vulnerable children. Simultaneously, we integrate mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) into our interventions, ensuring that children receive the emotional care necessary to overcome trauma and stress caused by conflict. By collaborating closely with teachers and school authorities, we foster safe and protective learning environments, where children are safeguarded from harm, discrimination, or any form of exploitation. This holistic approach ensures that education is not only available but also safe, inclusive, and supportive of children’s overall development.

FOMCAM’s Education in Emergencies program is strengthened through partnerships with reputable international organisations, including Street Child, enabling us to extend our reach and impact. To date, we have supported more than 200 conflict-affected children to return to school, providing them with the tools, guidance, and psychosocial support they need to thrive academically and emotionally. Each child’s journey back to learning represents a story of resilience, hope, and empowerment. Through this program, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that even in times of crisis, every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a future free from fear.

Through this program, we provide scholarships, essential learning materials, and psychosocial support to ensure children can focus on their studies without fear or anxiety. We also work closely with teachers to create safe and protective environments, where children are shielded from harm and receive the care they need for their emotional well-being. By integrating mental health and psychosocial support into education, we help children not only return to school but also rebuild their confidence and resilience. Partnerships with reputable international organisations such as Street Child and others have strengthened our efforts. Together, we have supported over 200 children to resume learning in safe spaces, free from violence and stigma. Every child we help represents a story of hope, proof that even in times of crisis, education can heal, empower, and transform lives.
